Vaccination against rotavirus

Rotavirus is extremely contagious and causes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Young children are especially vulnerable to rotavirus infection and can become seriously ill and dehydrated, so that they need treatment in hospital. There are two available oral vaccines against rotavirus. The Health Council committee on vaccinations will give advice on vaccination of children against rotavirus at the request of the minister of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS).
