Diethyleenglycol; Health-based recommended occupational exposure limit

Propyleenglycol en diethyleenglycol zijn kleurloze vloeistoffen met diverse toepassingen in de industrie. Ze worden onder andere gebruikt bij de productie van polyesters, hydraulische vloeistoffen, koelvloeistoffen, antivriesmiddelen en inkt. Daarnaast wordt propyleenglycol gebruikt om kunstmatige rook van te maken. Dit gebeurt onder andere bij theatervoorstellingen, popconcerten en oefeningen van de brandweer. Om werknemers die dampen of druppeltjes van deze glycolen inademen te beschermen tegen mogelijk nadelige gezondheidseffecten, stelt de Gezondheidsraad gezondheidskundige advieswaarden op voor de beroepsmatige blootstelling aan deze stoffen.
