Healthy nutrition
Which foods promote good health and which carry certain health risks? Health Council publications within this area of activity focus on: health risks due to an excess or deficiency of macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins and fats) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, trace elements); the link between nutrition and diseases (obesity, diabetes, eating disorders); the link between food production methods and health risks and benefits to consumers.
A continual activity within this focus area is to check regularly whether the current nutritional standards for energy and nutrients need updating (or if an entirely new standard is needed for a particular nutrient).
