Advisory letter on organicall grown food
Is organically grown food healthier than conventionally produced food? Verburg, the Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, asked the Health Council for advice on this issue in connection with the results of the “Organic, More Healthy?” project, which was conducted under the auspices of the Louis Bolk Institute. The Council explains in an advisory letter published today that there is no firm evidence for this hypothesis. Two topics receive special attention. First, according to the Council preference should be given to research into nutritional composition of the various products. Second, it is important to explore the extent to which healthy and sustainable dietary patterns run parallel to one another.
