Advisory Committee on Health Research

The Advisory Committee on Health Research (RGO) provides advice on priorities in health research, care research and technology development within this sector, as well as on the associated infrastructure. A social perspective is always the guiding principle in its work. In many cases, the RGO’s advisory reports are the basis for a research programme which is usually designed by the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMw). The advisory reports are provided concerning the innovation and knowledge infrastructure activity areas.

The current RGO came into being with the transfer of the duties of the former Advisory Council on Health Research to the Health Council of the Netherlands, as was stipulated in the Public Health Act in 2008. This change was the result of the repeal of the Framework Law on Sector Councils for Research and Development.
